Baseball…It’s Just Different.
G.O.A.T.
Am I the only person who hates it when people say “Baseball is boring” ?
Whenever I hear somebody say that, I just want to whip out some baby powder, pour a generous amount in my palm, and slap the person in the face. I just want to “kindly” tell them, ”Sorry my friend, Baseball is far from being a sport that is boring.”
There is a reason why the great american sport makes someone like me, somber when it’s winter and juiced when spring is around the corner.
People need to realize that there’s more to Baseball than what you see on the TV. Truth be told, I think Baseball is much more exciting than Football, Baseball or Soccer.
I get a kick every time I think about how I taught myself the sport of Baseball.
Baseball is a game that is play almost every day right? So lucky me, as a young kid, I was fortunate enough to listen to Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow call Giants games on TV day after day. Listening to them everyday, I started to remember things they would say over and over. Then the more and more I watched Giants games with Kruk and Kuip with the call, my knowledge of the game started to expand.
Then, I started to get familiar with the players on the teams. The fact that a regular Baseball season is 162 games long, it wasn’t that difficult to build a relationship with a player within. (I still hate you, Jason Schmidt!)
Thus, my passion for Baseball and the Giants slowly but surely, started to evolve.
Then I watched play Barry Bonds for the first time and well, it was history after that. Literally.
All I can say about Bonds is that he is undoubtedly, unarguably, hands-down, the “Greatest Of All Time” and like, totally my favorite Baseball player like ever. No but seriously, he was great to watch. I’m very fortunate as a Giants fan to watch him play live and on TV. 756!
Even till this day, I still think it’s so surreal that I taught the sport of Baseball on my own just by frequently watching the Giants play every day in the spring and summer. But most importantly, just listening to Kruk and Kuip call every game and having them teach me the in’s and out’s of the sport.
So for those who think Baseball sucks and is a boring sport, EAT A FAT ONE! I say, just understand how the game works first before being quick to make a judgement.
Once you do that, you will figure out why fans *cough* Dodgers fans suck! *cough* have so much crazy passion for their team. Cool?
GO GIANTS!
Here’s one of my favorite sayings. Maybe it will help! “It’s okay if you think baseball’s boring. It’s kind of a smart person’s sport.”
